Marikina Elementary School was established in 1914 during the American
occupation. In 1915, Catalino Cruz, the president of Marikina goverment paved
the way for the establishment of intermediate classes. From then on the
school was known as Marikina Elementary School.
The
historic Gabaldon building is its famous landmark since 1993. The school
catered average-income families around barangay Sta. Elena and its neighboring
barangays.
However,
building became dilapidated and some of them were eventually demolished. That's
why, in 1995, Mayor Bayani Fernando, the city mayor, constructed a
3-storey building with 30 classrooms on the western side. Another building was
constructed under the leadership of Mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando on the eastern
side. Both buildings were named after them.
At
present, the BF and MCF buildings are connected and a dome is used as venues
for so many city, DepEd and school activities. The Gabaldon part is used as an
office for the District and the school repair and maintenance group. Said
building is awaiting restoration.

When I first came to Marikina Elementary School, I was shocked and nervous because when I saw the school was very big and wide. To be honest, I still did not expect the practice of teaching in this school. But I am very excited to meet the principal, teachers and students of Marikina Elementary School.
Ma'am dena and I met the principal to discuss some of the things that I have to do here and then I get agreement that is the practice of teaching English in grades 4, 5, and 6. After getting a decision from the principal, Ma'am dena left me alone in Marikina Elementary School. And I was invited to meet with English teachers such as Ma'am Ivy (Grade 6), Ma'am Barzana (Grade 5) and Ma'am Vito (Grade 4). I'm very excited to meet them, because I'm sure they are great people in teaching English at Marikina Elementary School.

Of course besides I want to meet my cooperating teacher I
really want to meet with students of grade 4,5, and 6. And then, I was invited
Ma'am Ivy to introduce myself in grade 6. Oh my god, so many times I feel
nervous but I can get through it all because they accept me well. When I was in
class I introduced myself first and taught greeting in Indonesian. I'm so
excited they are so enthusiastic and lots of students are asking me questions.
In addition to grade 6 I also do it in gradse 4 and 5.
